Manga vs. Novel

So I have always loved stories. Starting from when I was a little kid and my dad used to tell me bedtime stories onto elementary school when I discovered reading and books on to high school when I became hooked on TV series and onto college when I discovered anime.

From anime I went on to manga, to follow those stories I absolutely could not leave. And I always wished that instead of the manga format it were written so that I could consume the story faster and that the mangaka did not have to waste time drawing. But today, from chapter 212 of Skip Beat by Nakamura sensei, I discovered why manga is different from a novel. Why it is a valid and effective medium for story telling, I would not have understood this without the skills of Nakamura sensei. The things that can be communicated without words, it is amazing. Things that would be difficult to communicate using words, and how effective the manga/comic story telling method can be to tell stories, it may seem obvious to others but I truly understood that the effort is worth it today. Because, I never needed pictures. It has always been easy for me to turn the words I read into pictures in my mind. So I never needed pictures.

Also, I am sure anyone who follows Skip Beat can sympathize, Skip Beat takes so long to update that I always wished that she could write everything instead of drawing because it would be faster. Because I already know how Kyouko, Ren, and everyone looks. I don't need to see them again, I just want to know what will happen next. But today, with the clock and other things, Nakamura sensei showed me what you can do with Manga that makes it a worthwhile storytelling medium. Thank You!
